| چکیده | ||
| The novel Symphony of the Dead by Abbas Marouf is one of the most prominent examples of modern Persian literature that depicts human internal and external crises in a social and historical context. In this study, the novel is analyzed from the perspective of the sociology of literature using a descriptive-analytical method, focusing on the concept of "masculine identity"; a concept that has its roots in the encounter of male characters with traditional structures, patriarchy, social pressures, and modern challenges. The study shows that male identity in this novel collapses through exposure to modernity, family pressure, social expectations, and gender roles. Through polyphonic narration, internalized language, and nonlinear structure, Abbas Marouf artistically reflects male characters and shows how power, gender, and silence are intertwined and how a traditional society can suppress creativity, freedom, and emotion in men. The results of this study demonstrate the importance of literature as a reflection of social structures and a tool for critiquing and examining established masculine norms in Iranian culture.
